Washington, D.C., September 24, 2013 – Censeo Consulting Group, a leader in operations and supply chain consulting, in partnership with Michigan State University (MSU), hosted one of their many executive roundtables earlier this week at the Marriott Metro Center titled “Enterprise IT Licensing: A Strategic Approach to Managing Costs.” The roundtable strategized on how to effectively managing IT licensing by applying approaches such as strategic vendor management and strategic sourcing.

Presenters included Mark Day, Acting Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Integrated Technology Services, and Director of Strategic Programs, GSA; Dr. Tim Laseter, Senior Advisor, Censeo Consulting Group and Professor, Darden, University of Virginia; Kareem El-Alaily, Director, CIO Advisory Services, Censeo Consulting Group; and Joe Sandor, Professor, Supply Chain Management, MSU.

“Managing IT and software costs is high on the federal CIO agenda,” said Raj Sharma, CEO of Censeo. “And the experience of several agencies shows that it is possible to rationalize the way enterprise software licenses are managed even while reducing costs and ensuring mission delivery.”

“We designed these events to not only bring industry, academia, and government together, but also to brainstorm new ideas concerning IT that lead to results.” said Joe Sandor, Professor of Supply Chain at MSU.

This roundtable highlighted the lessons learned and how proven practices can be applied in any agency including:

  • Accelerating the sharing of knowledge and expertise between and across government agencies.
  • Leveraging opportunities to achieve balance between short and long-term goals.
  • Engaging suppliers in the acquisition process.
  • Creating scenarios to reduce total cost across the supply chain.
  • Reducing the time to conclude a successful ELA.

This roundtable is the first in a series of executive roundtables where Censeo and MSU will bring private sector knowledge, academic perspective, and government experience together to help solve government’s most pressing IT problems.
