Gov. Martin O’Malley Joins Censeo Consulting Group Advisory Board

O’Malley, who served as the mayor of Baltimore for seven years, was instrumental in the city’s early adoption of performance management dashboards to assess municipal infrastructure and human service programs. His recently announced involvement with MetroLab Network, a White House Smart Cities Initiative program, will continue this work, using data to develop and support civic engagement and city infrastructure efforts.

“Censeo is committed to helping mission-driven organizations achieve positive social outcomes, and I’m proud to join them as a senior advisor and honorary board member,” said former Gov. Martin O’Malley. “I’m excited to help Censeo’s public and private sector clients impact change and achieve results through innovation and performance measurement.”

Censeo, a management consulting firm that works with mission-focused organizations to scale management and operational capacity, has supported federal agencies, higher education institutions, and nonprofits in adopting proven management practices to reduce costs and improve outcomes.

Raj Sharma, CEO of Censeo, expressed his hope of strengthening management practices in these sectors by working with O’Malley, who was recently named Washingtonian’s “best manager in government today.”

“Governor O’Malley’s leadership in establishing leading management tools such as CitiStat in Baltimore and StateStat in Maryland is a testament to his passion for open and transparent government,” said Sharma. “We are excited to bring his management insights and perspectives to Censeo so that we can work together to further the cause of effective and responsive governments.”

O’Malley will join Brit Kirwan, Chancellor Emeritus of the University System of Maryland, as a senior advisor to Censeo. O’Malley and Kirwan worked together closely during O’Malley’s terms as governor to freeze tuition in Md. for four years in a row, increase state spending on higher education by 31 percent, and enact the 2011 Dream Act.
